Kartsport Manawatu Dominates at New Zealand School Nationals.

The Manawatu club was well represented at the 8th  New Zealand School Nationals, with 11 Karters represented in 5 of the 6 Classes. Returning to the North Island winners of 4 out of the 6 classes.

Congratulations to Scott Blummont & Josh Drysdale for their great wins in their classes and bringing the New Zealand Schools title back to Manawatu for Palmerston North Boys High.

In the Cadet’s Thomas Ingram with two  1st’ finishes and a fourth won this class, Jacob Cranston Battled to 8th out of a field of 17.

In the Junior Restricted class Maddie Wise from H.Bay club took line honours ( another for the North Is ) Manawatu drivers James Webb finishing a hard fought 9th and Dylan (Booster ) Drysdale finished in 12th position out of  a strong  South Island field of 21.

The Junior Yamaha class required an extra heat to get the field of 29 to a final 24. Josh Drysdale took the Honours for Manawatu with some excellent driving , Jaden Hardy finished 11th but  looked promising in the first heat to take 1st place , however in the 3rd heat a  blown motor on the last lap put paid to that.  Mitchell Ward ended up in 12th place, an exciting drive from his pole position finishing 3rd was enjoyed by the crowd, he also had a great drive in his third heat from 21st to finish 8th a DNF also put paid to his chances.  Oliver Stewart had a hard day at the office coming in 23rd and Travis Day unfortunately missed the cut for the final at 26th. He however carries the honour of also being part of the Palmerston North Boys High team, well done Travis.

Formula Junior  class Josh  Drysdale showed his dominance driving his KF3 coming through the field of 11 when required and being in the comfortable position of not having to run the final finishing his heats with three 1st finishes and a 2nd . Well done Josh a great effort to finish first in both classes that is not easy to achieve.

Yamaha Lights class had 3 drivers from Manawatu in a strong field , Scott Blummont also had a magnificent day two 1st a  2nd and a 4th place set him up for his win in the final and a win for the Boys High team. Daniel Rine started the day strongly,  however also became another victim of the “Schools”, Becoming tangled up from a clash in front of him putting him onto the side of the track and finishing 13th. Thomas Stewart was running  alright until he also dropped an engine on the back straight ending up in 16th place.

Congratulations to all Manawatu Drivers, Pit Crews & supporters that attended this year’s Schools Nationals a great result for the club.
