So the day dawned with a decidedly dodgy looking forecast. The question on everyone’s lips for the morning was “What is the weather going to do?” Things stayed OK for scrutineering and the warm up…dry so far.

Race 1. Frantic changeovers onto a wet setup as the heavens opened! Splashing around the track resulted in Henri Ham winning from a 6th grid position. Henri’s first win I think too, well done Henri! Peter Dicks recovered from a first lap ‘incident’ to come back from 8th to 2nd place. But we could have done without 3 DNFs.

Race 2. Hmmm, a wet track but it was easing and the black clouds seemed to be hanging around, so most everyone went out on wets. Excepting Peter Dicks and Jay. Well, Jay took advantage of the first few lap ‘discoveries’ and came through for a win on an X plate! Glen Evans drove a consistent race to finish second and Peter D recovered (again!) from a first lap spin to get through to third.

Race 3. A dry race…yeay! Henri got a sneaky jump on me from the start to come out with his second win, leading home an ever closing Quinn Clark who was posting some fairly impressive lap times.

Race 4. Also in the dry. Most drivers pretty well kept their starting positions with Peter D leading the way from Glen and Peter Sarjeant.

Final. Back onto the wet setup, dammit this never gets easier! Why can’t it just stay one way or the other? A few of us were testing our tyre adhesion boundaries, with somewhat limited vision through fogged up visors, etc. But Peter D kept it together to win from Quinn who came through to 2nd from a 10th starting spot! Well done! Al Howie followed up with a well-deserved 3rd.

So the day ended up with Peter D winning overall, Henri 2nd and Peter S 3rd. Some good results from some great driving. Though it didn’t finish there…the top three were called to the Tech Shed. But everyone had been good and passed the squish test with flying colours (after also getting our fuel ‘sniffed’ earlier in the day). Phew!

The Clubsport 120 Club Championship was won by the ever consistent (don’t you hate using that term?!) Shaun Clark, who had it tied up before the final meeting. Congratulations Shaun. We will all have to wait and improve for another year to try to prise it off you!

Cheers

What a wonderful day! The forecast was for rain but the rain didn’t turn up till the chequered flag came out on the last race. How’s that for good luck?

Well with 21 karts on the track and everyone wanting to be up front there was bound to be a few incidents. And sure enough, with a little bit of over enthusiastic driving we did have a few nasty comings together. Pretty much every race in fact! I think we may need to have a Racket drivers meeting before the next round and come up with a gentleman’s agreement re making space and driving to our abilities. Maybe Shaun- our Raket Patron -  would like to jack this up?

Any way enough of the grumbling, there were some stand out moments: Quin Clark (ex stock car driver) surprised us all by moving through the field very quickly, this guy has skills and is someone to watch out for. Shaun drove perfectly as he always does to take the Round win, well done! John Paddy took no prisoners and one race win that I could remember, pretty good for an old fellow. Cranny was a late inclusion to the meeting and showed us some good speed, he adapted his Porsche driving skills to raket driving, all the while making changes to Andrew Managh’s kart. Good job! Peter Sarjeant showed awesome consistency and good pace, Sarje gave Peter Dicks a run for his money, (you have to be pretty good to do that!) Peter Dicks was, however running in a new set of second hand tyres and he said it took a while to scrub the ‘Blossom’ off them. Andy Apperley got to grips with the handling of his Intrepid showed bravery, not lifting off on the quick corners. Al dusted off his kart and was on the pace right away.

All in all a great days racing.

The rain was threatening on a cool September day for the Cadet class. This didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the eight Karters that pulled on their helmets.

It was a great days racing with a clear winner on the day being Callum Crawley no 79 which was a great result after a battered Kart from Blossom the weekend before.

Tom Greig no 42 took out a close second place which was decided in the final between Tom and Kaleb Ngatoa no 15.

The other placings on the day were Nick Evans no 88 4th, Riley Jack no 31 5th, Jackson Rooney no 7 6th and Bayley Walker (11x) and James Van den Berk  7th and 8th place respectively

This leaves the championship wide open for the 4th round on the 8th October see you there
